Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee
held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 25 February 2008

1) Apologies for Absence
Apologies were received from Cllrs R.I.Wade and D.M.Walton.
2) Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality
Cllr Beer declared that he is a Suffolk County Councillor, Babergh District
Councillor and Sudbury Town Councillor. Cllr Sayers declared that he is a
Sudbury Town Councillor. Cllr Mrs Todd declared that she is a Babergh
District Councillor. These members also asked that it be noted
that their views expressed at this meeting would be based on information
available at the time and might not be the same as those expressed at
meetings involving other councils.
3) Chairman’s Announcements
The Chairman advised that in his role as County Councillor, Cllr Beer has
Organised a meeting with John Boutcher, a County Council Highways officer
to highlight problem areas in the village. Members were asked to put forward
their suggestions.
4) Items Brought Forward
a. Anglia Estate Improvement
Waiting for a response from Ian Tippett at BDC on the latest situation.
b. North Cornard Regeneration Group
BDC have sent the latest plans to be displayed in the window of the Drop In.
AGREED to request a second copy to be displayed at the Stevenson Centre.
5) Babergh District Council consultation on Local Validation Requirement
Cllr Mrs Jackson advised that from the 6th April 2008, there will be a legal
obligation for a planning applications to be submitted on a national standard
application form.
BDC have asked this council for comments on the draft validation by
3rd March 2008.
AGREED to advise BDC that the requirements have been presented to the
Council and NOTED. However, the Parish Council wished to express its
concern, that the new regulations should not in any way place additional
financial burden on the individual applying.
6) Chilton Quarry: Suffolk County Council Road Safety Audit
AGREED to write a response to SCC, Highways stating that this council
believes it to be imperative that a roundabout should be the only solution
considered for the access to the site.

All members declared a personal interest, as this is Cllr Newman’s
Property.
