Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 28 January 2008

1)        Apologies for Absence

           Apologies were received from Cllr J.R.A.Sayers.

 

2)       Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

         

            Cllr Beer declared that he is a Suffolk County Councillor, Babergh District

           Councillor and Sudbury Town Councillor. Cllr Mrs Todd declared

           that she is a Babergh District Councillors. Cllr Walton declared that he is a

           Sudbury Town Councillor and a Babergh District Councillor. These members

           also asked that it be noted that their views expressed at this meeting would be

           based on information available at the time and might not be the same as those

           expressed at meetings involving other councils.

4)         Items Brought Forward

 

            a. Parking on Shawlands Avenue

                BDC visited the site on Wednesday 24th January 2008 and would submit a

               report in the next 2/3 weeks.           

 

            b. Anglia Estate Improvement

                The Council Manager to establish the latest situation with the project.

 

            c. North Cornard Regeneration Group

               The latest plans for the Poplar Road development remain the same, except for

              the inclusion of an electric substation. Signatures from all the tenants are still

              pending and it was hoped that building work could begin sometime in the

              Spring.

 

5)            Correspondence  

           

a.      Resident of Phillips Field Road: New Road Names in Great Cornard

             AGREED that the family name of Kilby be added to the waiting list of proposed

            road names.

 

6)         New Planning Applications

 

i)  B/07/02081 – Land rear of 58 Broom Street   

               Cllr Beer declared a personal interest

               Erection of 3 No. detached single-storey dwellings

                Recommended – REFUSAL     

a.      Over development of site

b.      Out of keeping with the size of houses and gardens in surrounding area

c.      Increase in traffic onto Broom Street

d.      Opens up the opportunity for further backland development in adjacent properties

 

     ii)  B/08/00120 – Upper Carsons, 90 Canhams Road  

          Reduce 1 no. Oak tree by 20% and 1 no.Beech tree covered by TPO BT81

           Recommended - APPROVAL

 

     iii) B/08/00046 – Waters Edge House, Joes Road

          Erection of a rear conservatory and a front boundary wall with railings and

         gates

          Recommended – APPROVAL

 

     iv) B/08/00032 – 6 Farford Field

          Erection of two-storey rear extension and single-storey front bay window

         Recommended – APPROVAL

 

     v) B/08/00107 – Newton House, Newton Road

         Erection of two-storey block of 12 No. flats (existing dwelling to

        be demolished). Alteration to existing vehicular access

         Recommended – APPROVAL

 

   vi) B/08/00004 – 63 Head Lane

        Erection of single-storey rear extension

         Recommended – APPROVAL
