Minutes of the meeting of the Recreation and Leisure Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 23 July 2007

1)  Apologies and Substitutions

      Apologies were received from Councillors M.D.Newman, R.R.Sims and Mrs.C.A.Todd. 

 

2)   Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

     

      Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a Personal Interest with regards to his

      membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and

      Suffolk County Council.

   

3)   Chairmans Announcements

     

       None

 

4)   Country Park: Report on Health & Safety work required on trees     

 

       Cllr.D.Thomas reported, that he and the Council Manager had walked the

       Park with the Tree Surgeons and had assessed the work that needed to be

       carried out.

 

       Agreed to RECOMMEND to full Council to accept the quotation for two days

       tree works at the Country Park costing £980.00 + VAT.

 

       AGREED the Council Manager to start to compile a list of local contractors

       which, could be used for such works in the future.

 

5)    Items Brought Forward

 

a)     Hedgerows Play Area

 

It was reported that Wicksteed Leisure would be re-visiting the Hedgerows on Tuesday 24 July to reassess the site for the inclusion of a swing, as well as quote for the repair work on the play equipment on the Recreation Ground. NOTED
