Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 25th June 2007

1)        Apologies for Absence

          

Apologies were received from Councillor R.I.Wade

 

2)       Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

         

Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a Personal Interest with regards to his membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and Suffolk County Council.

Cllr.H.N.Todd declared a Personal Interest with regards to his membership of Babergh District Council.

Cllr.D.M. Walton declared a Personal Interest with regards to his membership of Babergh District Council and Sudbury Town Council

                         

3)            Chairman’s Announcements   

           

a)         It was reported that the developers, Camelot, working in Cats Lane had encroached severely on the bank at the rear of the property and it was believed that this constituted a breach of the Planning Permission

b)         There is a steep bank from the pavement to the road outside no.11 Minsmere Way, and residents were requesting the a set of steps be installed

 

4)            Government Consultation: Planning for a Sustainable Future

 

The document was discussed by the Committee in general terms and it was AGREED that at the 23rd July  meeting the Chairman would present a proposed response to the consultation and members were asked to bring their own comments to the meeting, in order that a formal response can then be made.

 

 

5)                 Items Brought Forward

 

a)     Parking on Shawlands Avenue

Councillor Todd reported that as a District Councillor he had not been satisfied by the reply received from Babergh District Council concerning extra parking spaces. Accordingly He and District Councillor Mrs Todd have taken the matter up at a more senior level at Babergh DC, and will report back in due course.

 

b)     North Cornard Regeneration Group

There had been no meeting of the group since the last Committee meeting, however, it was noted that work appeared to have started at Poplar Road.

The Council Manager will contact the developers to confirm that this Council would like some rubble for the car park at Blackhouse Lane, and some block paving setts (not paving slabs) for possible use in the cemetery.

 

6)              New Planning Applications

 

i)      B/07/00913/TPO/DP – 1, Stannard Way  

The application contains neither sufficient detail concerning the siting of the tree, nor of the scale and extent of the proposed works for this Council to make a decision.
