Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 19 May 2008

1)        Apologies for Absence

           Apologies were received from Cllrs J.R.A.Sayers, D.M.Walton and Mrs.C.J.Webb.

 

2)       Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

         

            Cllrs Mrs Todd and Newman declared that they are Babergh District

           Councillors. These members also asked that it be noted that their views

           expressed at this meeting would be based on information available at the

           time and might not be the same as those expressed at meetings involving

           other councils.       

                         

3)      Confirmation of the Minutes of the Meeting on 14th & 28th April 2008

 

         The Minutes having been ratified by full council on the 12th May 2008, were

         signed by the Chairman. 

 

4)      Chairman’s Announcements       

          None

           

5)         Items Brought Forward

 

            a. Broom Street footpath/flower bed

              The Council Manager emailed Mr J Boucher, SCC on the 1st May 2008, but as yet has had not received a reply.   

           

              AGREED the Council Manager to continue chasing SCC to have the road ‘made up’, stating that the development has been completed for a number of months and that having the drains exposed caused safety/water drainage issues for the residents.

 

              Members AGREED that no further progress could be made with the matter of the flowerbed and that the item should be removed from the IBF list.

  

           b. Parking On Shawlands Avenue

    Some of the proposed new parking spaces have been completed and Cllr Mrs Todd confirmed that the rest of the spaces would be completed in the Autumn.  

 

c. Anglia Estate Improvements Group

    Mrs Tamlyn reported that Ian Tippet had confirmed that the work of the group has now come to an end and there is no need for the group to meet any more. AGREED to remove the item from the IBF list.

   

d. North Cornard Regeneration Group

              The next meeting is scheduled for 5.45pm on Wednesday 28th May

              at the Stevenson Centre.
