a)     Suffolk County Council: Replacement Street Light

Agreed to RECOMMEND to Council that the street light in Oak Road be replaced at a cost of £905.63 plus EDF energy costs.

Councillors were reminded that from the 2006/7 budget of £2,250 allocated for new/replacement street lights, £525 had already been spent and this takes the total to £1,430.63.

b)     Babergh District Council: Land at Pot Kiln Road

BDC had previously advised that the land in Pot Kiln Road would not be used again as a builders compound. They had followed this, almost immediately, with a letter to say that it would be used again as a compound for the remaining work on the estate. This Council had therefore written requesting that, at the end of the work, the land be gifted to GCPC as public open space. BDC now advised that officers had identified the land as a potential development site and they would be unwilling to transfer it to GCPC.

The land was not listed in the Local Plan for development and the Committee was unanimously against this use.

AGREED to pursue this matter with GC District Councillors, to ascertain whether there are any plans for development and to continue to seek to have the site made ‘public open space’.
