Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 26th February 2007

1)        Apologies for Absence

          

Apologies were received from Councillors M.Fryer and Mrs.F.A.Jackson.

 

2)       Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

         

           Cllr.J.R.A.Sayers declared a personal interest with regards to his membership

           of Babergh District Council and Sudbury Town Council.

            

3)       A134 Sudbury to Nayland – Route Safety Improvements

           

            NOTED

 

4)         Street lighting Unit 130, 131, 118 – Replacement

 

            AGREED the matter to be referred back to SCC for clarification.

 

5)         Resident of Church Road: Extension of Garden to provide parking

 

            AGREED to support the resident’s request, to purchase from BDC, a strip of

          land no wider than 4 metres, therefore, allowing  the resident to park his vehicle

          ‘off’ Church Road.

 

6)         Cornard Tye Residents Association: Sheepshead Road (C732)

 

            AGREED the Council Manager to send a letter supporting the Association’s

           request to BDC, to protect the ancient holloway and the Home Guard Oak by

           making them subject to a Tree Preservation Order

 

 7.       New Planning Applications

 

i)         B/06/02120/LBC/DB –  Lawn House, Upper Tye,  

Application for Listed Building Consent – Demolition of one section of boundary garden wall (to form new vehicular access).

Recommended – REFUSAL

a)     This is a well built, attractive red brick wall, which is in a good state of

       repair. This Council believes that taking down a section of the wall would

      seriously effect the outlook of a listed building.

 

     ii)   B/07/00132/FHA/DB – 26 Chapling Walk    

           Erection of conservatory.

           Recommended –  APPROVAL

 

     iii)   B/07/00141/FHA/DB – 2 Oriel Close 

                  Erection of two-storey side extension and rear conservatory. 

                   Recommended – APPROVAL

 

iv)   B/07/00120/FHA/CJT – 7 Turkentine Close 

       Erection of rear conservatory (following demolition of existing 

       conservatory)    

       Recommended – APPROVAL

 

Notice of Appeal decision

 

B/06/00040/OUT – 90 Canhams Road

The erection of 14 two-bedroom, two storey dwellings and demolition of

existing building.      

The appeal was dismissed.  

 

Town & Country Planning Act 1990 – Proposed footpath closures

(Anglia Estate) between Rede Way and Raydon Way.

Proposed closure of adopted footpath adjacent to numbers 77 and 82 Rede

Way and adjacent to numbers 27 and 32 Raydon Way.

8)         Items Brought Forward

 

            North Cornard Regeneration Group            

            The Council Manager gave an update, advising that Clover Mews is soon to be

           completed and will be known as ‘Clover Mews’. Work on Clibbon House

           is due to start March 2007 and Poplar Road is scheduled to start April 2007.
