Minutes of the meeting of the Development and Planning Committee

held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 26th March 2007

1)        Apologies for Absence

          

Apologies were received from Councillors M.Fryer and Mrs.F.A.Jackson.

 

2)       Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

         

           Cllr.J.R.A.Sayers declared a personal interest with regards to his membership

           of Babergh District Council and Sudbury Town Council.

            

3)       Correspondence  

 

            a.  Babergh DC re: Planning Application B/06/01842/FUL

            NOTED the Council manager is currently gathering the appropriate evidence.

 

            b.  PCSO Bitten: Additional Street Lights

            AGREED the Council manager to reply, thanking PCSO Bitten for her input and

           advising that new street lights cost between £1.5k-2k to install and that the PC

           already has a list of lights which need to be replaced first. If the PCSO feels that

           the lack of lighting is a safety issue, then the PC suggests she contact Suffolk

           County Council and takes advice from Mr.King, the local Crime Prevention

           officer.  

                       

4)         To consider a request for road signs to Blackhouse Lane

            AGREED to support the BHL user’s request and to write to SCC

            requesting that three signs be erected; one at the Bures Road/Blackhouse Lane

           turning, one at the Head Lane/Wells Hall Road Junction and one at the

           Wells Hall Road and Blackhouse lane turning.

 

5)         Items Brought Forward  

 

            Parking on Shawlands Avenue

            The Council Manager to chase Chris Foti for a reply to the Council’s letter dated

            23rd January 2007, stating also, that recent “near misses” along the road are

           continuing to cause concern. Both letters should also be copied to County

           Councillor.P.K.Beer.  

 

6)       New Planning Applications

 

i)        B/06/02051/FUL/CT –  Part rear gardens of 29 & 31 Canhams Road  

Erection of 1 no. detached dwelling and conservatory and temporary permission for the siting of a mobile home.  

Recommended – APPROVAL

           Permission for the mobile home should be for the duration of the build only.

 

     ii)   B/07/00347/FHA/BHW – 2a The Pot Kilns      

            Erection of single-storey rear extension.

           Recommended –  APPROVAL

 

     iii)   B/07/00355/FHA/GP – Prospect House    

                  Erection of out building (existing building to be demolished)   

                   Recommended – REFUSAL  

i)    The close proximity of the build to a listed building.

ii)  The “over large” size of the plans.

iii)The lack of details provided for the existing building to be demolished.

 

iv)   B/07/00216/TPO/DC – The Squirrels, Shawlands Avenue    

       Felling of 2 no. Ash Trees protected by TPO No BT331.    

       Recommended – APPROVAL

 

            v)    B/05/01958/FHA/CT – 36 Carsons Drive

                   Erection of two-storey side extension. AMENDED 

                    Recommended – APPROVAL

 

            vi)   B/07/00344/FHA/BHW – Appletree Cottage, Prospect Hill, Little Cornard

                   Consulted as the adjoining Parish Council

                   Erection of single-storey rear extension (existing lean-to to be demolished)

                   Recommended – APPROVAL

  

            vii)   B/07/00326/FHA/BHW – Pola Negri House, Sackers Green, Newton

                    Cllr.J.R.A.Sayers declared a personal interest.

                    Erection of rear two-storey extension and front porch (following demolition

                   of existing extension and front porch)

                    Recommended – APPROVAL

 

            viii)  B/07/00327/LBC/BHW -  Pola Negri House, Sackers Green, Newton

                    Cllr.J.R.A.Sayers declared a personal interest.

                    Application for Listed Building Consent - Erection of rear two-storey

                    extension and front porch (following demolition of existing extension and

                   front porch)

                     Recommended – APPROVAL
