Minutes of the Meeting of Great Cornard Parish Council held

in the Stevenson Centre on Monday 9th October 2006.

1.   Apologies for Absence

      Apologies were received from Cllrs. A.C.Bavington, M.Fryer, D.R.G.Thomas, Mrs.P.White and R.Sims.

 

2.  Declaration of Interests, Gifts and Hospitality

     Cllr.J.R.A.Sayers declared a personal interest with regards to his

     membership of Sudbury Town Council and Babergh District Council.

     Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a personal interest with regards to his

     membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and

     Suffolk County Council.

Cllr H.N.Todd declared a personal interest with regards to his membership of Babergh District Council

     Cllr.Mrs.F.A.Jackson declared a personal interest in item 7, as

     Cllr.Mrs.Jackson is a patient at the Walnuttree Hospital.

4. Minutes of the Meeting held on 11th September 2006

    

    RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Council meeting held on

   11th September 2006 be confirmed and signed as a true record.

 

 

5.  Police Beat Officers Report 

 

The report covers the period from the 6th September through to the 5th October 2006.

     NOTED 

       

It was noted that a large number of vehicles had been removed from the garden of a boarded up house on Bures Road, and that the District Council may take action to take possession of the house in lieu of unpaid rates.

 

Councillors requested the opportunity to accompany the police on an evenings patrol and the Council Manager will see if this can be arranged.

 

6. To Receive a Report from Great Cornard County Councillor

 

a.      Health Scrutiny Committee

Cllr. Beer reported that the Committee, on which he sits, had met 2 weeks ago and had agreed to refer the closure of Walnuttree Hospital back to the Secretary of State.

           

b.      There will shortly be a Budget Consultation Roadshow, looking at how savings can be made in the County Council budget.

 

c.   Environmental Waste Committee

On which Cllr. Beer sits, had met and decided to recommend that the County look at proposals for the incineration of waste; probably in three sites in the County

            held on 25th September 2006 were accepted as a true record of the

            meeting subject to the following amendments:-

i.    The Chairman was Cllr. H. Todd, not Cllr. P. Beer

ii.   The Auditors report be included in the minutes in full.
