The Vicar thanked the Council for the invitation to speak at the meeting and for the Council’s continued support.
The Church building has been the focus for the fund raising activities over the past 12 months. The target is £250k and currently the funds raised are half way to that target. The Church is investigating the possibility of purchasing a neighbouring building which, will provide a much needed toilet, kitchen and meeting room area.
A Welcome Pack for all new residents of Great Cornard has been produced and so far 75 packs have been distributed
The Church has a flourishing Youth Choir with over 35 children attending. The possibility of employing a youth outreach worker is being considered and the Vicar muted the idea of possible Parish Council funding for this project.
The setting up of a lunch Club for the elderly residents of Great Cornard was also being considered and again, the Church would be looking to the Council to work together in trying to get this up and running.
The Vicar announced that on Saturday 16th June, the Church would be holding a fund raising event to include a carnival with ‘wheel barrow’ floats, a street party to be held along Church Road and a teddy bear parachute competition!
