GREAT CORNARD PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the Policies and Finance Committee

held in the Stevenson Centre on Monday 25th February 2008

1)  Apologies for Absence

     

      Apologies were received from Cllrs N Proctor and R Wade.

 

2)  Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

 

     Cllr Beer declared that he is a Suffolk County Councillor, Babergh District

     Councillor and Sudbury Town Councillor. Cllrs H.Todd and Newman declared

     that they are Babergh District Councillors. These members also asked that it

     be noted that their views expressed at this meeting would be based on

     information available at the time and might not be the same as those

    expressed at meetings involving other councils.       

    

     Cllr H Todd declared a prejudicial interest in Item 5.

             

3)  Chairman’s Announcements

 

     The Chairman advised that the Sudbury Fun Run will take place on Friday 

     21st March 2008. AGREED to forward a copy of the Blackhouse Lane Road

     closure to the Fun Run committee.

 

4)  Items Brought Forward

 

     a.  Village Hall Lease

           AGREED a meeting to be organised in the Spring.

   

5)  To consider new Hire Charges for the Stevenson Centre

 

      Agreed to RECOMMEND the proposed new charges to full Council and

      to request that the charges are reviewed again, in a years time.

 

 

6)  To discuss arrangements for the use of the Council’s van by Sudbury

     Town Council

      

      Members discussed the terms of the agreement for Sudbury Town Council

      to use the council’s van.

 

      Agreed to RECOMMEND to full Council the following agreement

 

·        Out of hours the van will be kept at the home of the 2nd Community Warden. It will be cleaned regularly by him inside and out.

·        Great Cornard will pay for the road tax and insurance.

·        STC will pay for diesel, oil etc.

·        STC will pay for the yearly servicing of the van.

·        STC have full use of the van. The 2nd Community Warden may be asked by GCPC Manager to carry out occasional work. STC will only charge GCPC for the 2nd warden’s time when asked to carry out work at weekends, evenings and special events in Great Cornard.

·        Only the Community Wardens and the GCPC Manager will be authorised to drive the van.  

 

AGREED by members to defer items 7 & 8 to the next meeting.
