Minutes of the meeting of the Policies and Finance Committee

held in the Stevenson Centre on Monday 23rd October 2006

1)  Apologies for Absence

      Apologies were received from Councillors Mrs.C.J.Baker and A.C.Bavington.

 

2)  Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

     Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a personal interest with regards to his

     membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and

     Suffolk County Council.

4)  Correspondence  

 

a)     Rotary Club Sudbury

A request by Mr.J.R.A.Sayers for the Council to contribute financially to the proposed plans to install an ‘aerial runway’ in Belle View Park, Sudbury.  NOTED

 

Agreed to RECOMMEND to full Council that the matter be taken into consideration at the January Precept Meeting, with consideration also given to this Council’s own plans to improve the play area at the Hedgerows.

      

5)         Clean Neighbourhood Scheme

            AGREED Cllr.M.Fryer to present an abbreviated report to all members at

           the next full Council meeting.  

 

            AGREED the Council Manager to contact BDC for a current update on

           how this scheme is progressing and whether they need a response from

           the Council on the proposal to use Rede Way as an experimental area.  

 

            The Committee expressed their thanks to Cllr Fryer for all his work so far

           on this scheme. 

 

6)         Items Brought Forward

 

      a)   Stevenson Centre

              The Council Manager confirmed, that the deposit on the doors has been

             paid and that they will take 4-6 weeks to manufacture and install. It was

             hoped that the builder would be able to start work on the new ramp by

             early December.
