Minutes of the meeting of the Policies and Finance Committee
held in the Stevenson Centre on Monday 25th September 2006

1) Apologies for Absence
Apologies were received from Councillor A.C.Bavington.
2) Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality
Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a personal interest with regards to his
membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and
Suffolk County Council.
Cllr.H.N.Todd declared a personal interest with regards to his
membership of Babergh District Council.
3) Chairman’s Announcements
Through the Chair; Cllr.M.Fryer advised that he had attended a meeting
on the ‘Clean Neighbourhoods’ initiative. AGREED for the matter to
be added to the next Policies & Finance Committee Agenda.
4) Correspondence
a) 1st Great Cornard Scout Group: Renewal of Lease
AGREED the Council Manager to write on behalf of the Chairman, stating that the Council would not wish the renewal of the Scouts lease to prejudice discussions on other leases currently under negotiation and that once these negotiations are completed the Council would be in a position to review the Scouts requests. In the meantime a second meeting should be organised to establish their plans.
AGREED the matter to be added to the Items Brought Forward List.
5) Items Brought Forward
a) Stevenson Centre
A meeting with the suppliers of the new doors and the Architect to be
arranged, as well as co-ordinating a start date with the builder.
The Council Manager to expedite.
6) Financial Matters
a) Auditors Report
The Council’s External Auditor ‘s report dated 29th August 2006 stated
“On the basis of our review, in the opinion the information contained in the annual return is in accordance with the Audit Commission’s requirements and no matters have come to our attention giving cause for concern that relevant regulatory requirements have not been met”
