Minutes of the meeting of the Policies and Finance Committee

held in the Stevenson Centre on Monday 23 July 2007

1)  Apologies for Absence

      Apologies were received from Councillors Mrs.C.J.Baker and M.D.Newman.

 

2)  Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality

      Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a personal interest with regards to his

      membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and

      Suffolk County Council.

 

      Cllr.H.N.Todd declared a personal interest with regards to his membership of

      Babergh District Council.

 

3)  Chairman’s Announcements

 

a)     To highlight the Disabled Swing being stolen, the press have requested that as many councillors as possible be present at a photo call in the play area at 10am Tuesday 24th July 2007.

b)     This years Christmas Party will take place on Wednesday 12th December.

c)  There will be two further Car Boot Sales on Saturday 11th and 18th August

     2007.

d)  The Chairman will speak to the Council Manager, with the view to support

     more local business.

e)  Members of the Policy & Finance Committee were given copies of a

          proposed ‘Performance Appraisal, Member Feedback’ form for the Council

          Manager. The matter will be added to the Agenda for the next Council

          meeting. 

 

 4)  Items Brought Forward

 

     a.  Stevenson Centre Task Group

           Members of the group had met on Tuesday 10th July and had walked

           around the building creating a breakdown of work which needs to be

           carried out.  

 

             Cllr.Proctor reported that a local painter & decorator had been asked to

           quote and had kindly offered to paint the hall as a community project at no

           cost to the Council, as well as providing a separate quotation for all other

           works.   

 

     b.  Village Hall Lease

           Cllr.P.K.Beer requested that as many members as possible visit the

           Village Hall, suggesting that Monday evenings are an ideal time.
