3) Items Brought Forward
a) Blackhouse Lane Pavilion
AGREED Cllrs Fryer and Beer will meet with the Council Manager to examine the proposed terms of the lease, with a view to then meeting with representatives of Cornard Dynamos to discuss the problems that have arisen at the sports ground.
b) Shawlands: Local Nature Reserve
Babergh District Council had been asked to delegate their power to declare the area a Local Nature Reserve to this Parish Council. A reply was awaited.
c) Country Park Review
The Council Manager had met Mr. Walters from the Sudbury Common Lands Charity on Tuesday 28th to discuss a contract for the hay cutting in the meadows. The flower meadow could be ‘rescued’ fairly easily this year, with about two days work. The large lower meadow is in a far worse state and will require quite an amount of remedial work. Within this year’s budget it will be possible to carry out the work on the flower meadow and commence clearance work on the other.
AGREED to RECOMMEND to Council that this work is put in hand.
Councillor Beer proposed that with the recent enlargement of the Country Park, and with its effective ‘re-launch’ a new name would be appropriate.
AGREED to RECOMMEND to Council that the Country Park be renamed
“Gainsborough’s Country Park at Great Cornard”
Meeting Closed 8.00pm
