Minutes of the meeting of the Recreation and Leisure Committee
held in The Stevenson Centre on Monday 26th March 2007

1) Apologies and Substitutions
Apologies were received from Councillors A.C.Bavington, M.Fryer and R.R.Sims.
2) Declarations of Interest, Gifts or Hospitality
Cllr.P.K.Beer declared a personal interest with regards to his
membership of Sudbury Town Council, Babergh District Council and
Suffolk County Council.
Cllr.H.N.Todd declared a personal interest with regards to his membership of
Babergh District Council.
3) To confirm Council representation at a meeting with Sudbury Rugby
Club
Cllr.P.K.Beer advised that Sudbury Rugby Club had requested a meeting and
that Wednesday 16th May had been suggested.
AGREED that the meeting be open to all the newly elected members of the
Council.
7.43pm Cllr.H.N.Todd arrived at the meeting.
4) To consider a request for a Bottle Bank at Blackhouse Lane
Cllr.P.K.Beer advised that this request had arisen during an extremely
constructive meeting with all the users of Blackhouse Lane.
AGREED the Council Manager to write to BDC, requesting that a
Bottle Bank be located on the Blackhouse Lane car park.
5) To consider a request for a contribution to the purchase of a ‘gang’
mower for Blackhouse lane
AGREED to request that an appropriate grant application be submitted.
6) Items Brought Forward
a) Country Park
A number of complaints had been received about the amount of litter on
the park. The Council Manager advised that he would speak to the
Community Warden on the matter.
The emptying of both litter and dogs bins in the village was discussed
and it was AGREED that the Council Manager write a letter to BDC
stating that the bins in general, continue not to be emptied on a prompt
and regular basis and that unless services improve, the Parish Council
would continue not to pay the bill in full.
