WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT………….
Shoved into the Local Plan through the back door – now the Officers are trying to rush this through on an accelerated timetable – we wonder why – what is the rush –or do we know
170 home development concreting over the Sheepshead Hill slopes east of Carsons Drive
Destruction of national heritage Gainsborough views – 700+ years of history wiped out
Our footpaths, bridleway and open space now will become one big housing estate
Threat to the Home Guard Oak and a 300 year old hollow way
Yet another major housing development dumped in Great Cornard….enough is enough
Problems for roads, sewage, drainage, traffic, air & noise pollution, schools, medical facilities
Up to 1000 additional car movements per day along Shawlands Avenue and Sheepshead Hill
THIS AREA WAS PROTECTED BY A SPECIAL LANDSCAPE AREA (SLA) DESIGNATION……
Had been approved twice by full votes of the District Council, including a landscape assessment affirming the special landscape quality in this area
Rejected for development under the Local Plan Task Force district wide review
Deleted by one stroke of the Inspector’s pencil – and lobbying by big money developers
This will not stop at just 170 homes – the whole valley slopes are opened up for development leading to the A134
This destroys Great Cornard’s Green Belt all the way to the Country Park
