PRESS RELEASE
1st March 2006
2000 plus Petition Delivered to Babergh District Council
Online Suffolk Free Press poll Registers 93% Saying Site Should Be Protected
The Action group, formed to reject the 170 home development concreting over the lower slopes of the Stour Valley at Carsons Drive, Great Cornard, will be presenting a list of all those who have pledged support for their cause to the District Council.
For the last 5 Saturdays, Action Group for the protection of this special site has been registering the overwhelming support... ‘Even in the coldest weather shoppers have been signing up at a rate of more than one per minute. This shows the strength of support from all over the area for our cause and the overwhelming hostility towards this totally inappropriate development. I am certain that the council will reflect on the validity of our case and delete it from the Local Plan’ said Stefan Kosciuszko, Chairman of the action group.
The bundle of over two thousand names will be delivered by Michael Evans, Treasurer and Secretary to the group, to Rich Cooke, Acting Head of Planning Policy & Economic Development at the Babergh District Council offices, Corks Lane , Hadleigh at 3 o’clock on Wednesday 1st March.
