SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL FORMALLY OBJECT TO CARSONS DRIVE DEVELOPMENT

Mr Alan G Newman of Suffolk County Council Environment & Transport has lodged an official objection to Post Inquiry Modification 3/59 the Carsons Drive Development.  He says that the proposed modification does not give sufficient details of the highway improvements necessary to provide safe and convenient access to the site.

He also states that the land required to carry out the necessary improvements is within private ownership and THE COST OF ACQUIRING LAND AND CARRYING OUT THE HIGHWAY WORKS IS LIKELY TO BE EXCESSIVE in relation to the development site.

In his report to the Inquiry, which the Inspector ignored, he stated that there can be no doubt that by the site’s very location, considerable additional traffic use will be made of the C732, it cannot be allowed to remain in its present condition.

Stefan Kosciuszko, Chairman of the Action Group says ‘we said all along that the Inspector had ignored the Highways Authority report and now this must be considered along with the huge number of objections from the public. It is now obvious that this site is totally unsustainable, bad planning must be abandoned and the Special Landscape Area reinstated.
