The Air Training Corps (ATC) is open to boys and girls from the ages of 13 to 18. There are many opportunities available to cadets, including flying, gliding, adventure training and sport. Over the last year certain cadets have also been skiing, scuba diving, climbing, abseiling, jet skiing, power-boating and have also had the opportunity to go hang-gliding. On the musical front, the Squadron has its own Corps of Drums and members have played at the Lord Mayors Show in London. Last years five members even went on a week’s trip to play in Boston, USA. This year, camps are planned for Scotland and Dorset, as well as an RAF Station and local weekend camps. Fieldcraft is taught to all cadets, showing them how to make their own shelters and cook in the open. We are always looking for new members, both as cadets and adult staff. The Squadron is currently about 40 strong and many of them are from Great Cornard. The Squadron meets on Monday and Thursday evenings and if you are interested in joining, you should contact the Officer Commanding, Flt Lt R Appleby on 01206 395037 or E-Mail Sudbury Air Cadets.
