West Suffolk Voluntary Association for the Blind work throughout West Suffolk to provide practical and realistic solutions to the challenges posed by sight loss through the following services aimed to help individual maintain their independence.
Eye Clinic Support - Running a helpdesk and information at West Suffolk Hospital.
Community Workers - Through home visits doing an initial assessment of need and recommending the next step.
Resource Centre -Specialist equipment demonstrations with advice and information.
Benefits Advise - Giving dedicated benefits advice and helping complete the forms.
Regular Newsletter - “Sight Matters” is sent three times a year in large print or on audio cassette.
Entertainment/Social – Providing Telechatting, Befriending, Book Clubs and 10 Social Clubs through West Suffolk.

Sudbury Social Group have a local Sudbury group run by volunteers to help visually impaired people living in and around Sudbury to get out and about. They organise social events including coach outings and lunches, plus coffee/social mornings and monthly tenpin bowling.
If you wish to join please contact us. You do not have to be registered sight impaired but must have sight problems. There is no joining fee, although there is a cost for many of the events. We do not expect a visually impaired person to attend on their own but encourage them to bring a sighted friend or relative with them. We do have volunteers on hand to help.
Talking of volunteers, we are always looking for help, so if you could give a few hours of your time, then maybe you are just what we are looking for. The main help we need is car drivers, happy to pick up members from their homes; all petrol expenses will be paid.
